Yesterday at the EPCH Expo Mart in Greater Noida, I stopped by Janabi Phookan's booth  LaheLooms. What began as a simple visit became a conversation that stayed with me long after I walked away.

We spoke about authenticity. Not as a trend. Not as branding. But as responsibility.

Janabi is not just designing textiles. She is keeping looms alive in Assam. Ensuring artisans are recognised as custodians of culture  not invisible labour.

And it made me reflect on something important: As designers and industry leaders, are we extracting from craft — or strengthening it?

In my own journey as a jewellery revivalist, I've come to believe that luxury without responsibility is incomplete. Real sustainability is not loud. It is layered. It respects hands. It honours heritage. It builds ecosystems.

In a world racing toward speed, slowing down isn't stepping back. It's moving forward with purpose.

#CaratConversations — because some dialogues deserve to be kept like diamonds.
